Another update on Mrs. Carrie and the babies...

I am going to post a very short one here about the Mrs. Carrie and her unborn twin Babies.

It seems that the surgery was very successful. As Carrie posted on her blog, they still have a long road ahead of them, so PLEASE continue to pray for Mrs. Carrie Cooper and her twin baby girls that she is carrying.

I am posting a link to her blog, where she describe's some of the details of the surgery and there after. Please take time to go over there and read from her own words how things went and what God has done thus far.

Thank you, my sweet online friends, for stopping to pray for the Cooper family and their precious unborn blessings, during this time of need.

Love & Prayers,

Concoct your own face cream......

A while back (about 2 or 3 weeks ago or so) I had mentioned the "homemade face cream" that I had made. Well several ladies have asked for the recipe, so here it is. I have been using this faithfully for weeks now, and all I can say is ***I LUV IT!!!*** It's cheap, cheerful, frugal (especially for the long term), and if you have dry, sensitive, itchy, (& as in my case) roseacea prone facila skin, this stuff is fabulous. My skin is so very dry that I use it in the morning after cleansing my face (before I put on any make up) and I use it in the evening after cleansing my face, before bed. My skin is soft, supple, well moisturized, no dry lines or wrinkles showing up, no dry flakey skin, etc. Even my hubby noticed the difference. Now if you decide to make this and use it, you will truly only need a tiny smidgen applied to your face. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, this face cream **will not** have a heavy, perfumey, scented smell. It is light, mild, and natural in smell. It will for the most part smell like the cocoa butter and hydrous lanolin, and to be honest that is better for your skin anyway than to cover it with all those perfume's and chemicals.

I made a double batch this time, and I will be keeping the extra one in the fridge till it's needed, or I might give it away to a friend of mine.

Here are picture's of the ingredients that are called for in the "concoct a night cream" recipe.

Fresh, raw, organic, cocoa butter. I purchased this at my local food co-op/organc health food store. Ok, so the price for the raw cocoa butter @ my health food store goes like this....they charge $15.99 per pound. But do not freak out yet, I filled an average plastic ziplock sandwich bag *half full* of these golden nuggets of cocoa butter, and it was only about $2.00, and it was no where near a pound. Now, I have used and grated up about 6 tblspn of the cocoa butter and my bag is still nearly half full. So, trust me, unless ur health food store is just plain ol' greedy, this stuff is cheap, and when it's melted down only your imagination will stop you from thinking about all kinds of mixture's you could create for you face, hands, body, lips, etc.

I left the info on the front of the bottle just incase it would help you to know where to look in your area.

This is what the Hydrous Lanolin looks like.

In the recipe below, first of all it calls for "Hydrous Lanolin". I found this at a pharmacy where they specialize in natural, orgainc, and specialty compounding mixture's. It was fairly cheap. For 8 tablespoons I spent about $6.00. This is enough for about a 1 years supply for the recipe (face cream). I did try to find it in my local organic health food stores but they did not have it. they were however, the one's who suggested that I go to our local Nature's pharmacy, or other pharmacy to get it there. Wal'la, they had it.

As for the rose water, I got a bottle of pre-made rose water from my local food co-op/organic health food store. The bottle I got is also something I use on my face daily after I clean it. It is a wonderful toner for sensitive skin and has slight moisturizing properties. But one small bottle of rose water will most definitely be more than enough for a year. I also got the sweet almond oil and the essential rose oil there as well. I did not make my own rose water because I was unsure of getting ahold of "true & affordable organicly grown roses".

I did make a double batch, thus two little bottles in the picture. I will be keeping one in the frig till it's needed, or I just might give it away...???? HHHMMM, that's a good idea.

You can click on the picture's to see an enlarged picture of the recipe. Sorry I just took the easy way this time, and just took pic's of the book. If for any reason it's to hard to see, just leave me a message and I will re-post the recipe hand typed for you...k....k.

Clean and sterilize containers...

Start with combining almond oil, grated cocoa butter, & hydrous lanolin....
Use a double boiler system, and slowly melt ingredients....
When all is melted and cooled, then add rose water, honey, and rose oil (use able for skin)....
When all is cooled, combined & ready, pour into the sterilized containers. I had some baby food jars around and decided to use them. They were the perfect size for a double batch. If you are going to make a single batch then one baby food jar should be fine. As you can see, my jars are filled all the way to the top.
Finished results. YAY ME!. Cheap, cheerful, organic, and healthy for my skin. I use this every morning and every night. But keep in mind that I have horribly, dry and terribly sensitive skin. So twice a day might be far to much for most of you that have normal skin. Just try and see what works best for you...ok! OH....remember a very little dab will do ya.
I hope you love this as much as I do. It's cheap, cheerful, and fabulous for you skin (especially when you figure that with an initial purchase, you will have enough for almost a years worth, if it's used in very small amounts), .

Love & Prayers,

Ronda
