This afternoon my hubby and I went for a ride in the Mills River area. In Mills River, there are so many things to do....i.e. camping, picnicking, horse back riding (with your own horses of course), bicycling, hiking, hunting, fishing, walking, etc...etc...etc.
Well, Bob had gone earlier this morning to do a little squirrel hunting (with no success, I might add), and while he was there he snapped a few picture's of some lovely, frozen water covered rocks and such. So of course while he was on his way home, he called me and told me to dress warmly and get ready because we were going back with my camera so that I could take a bunch a picture's. He knows how I just love taking picture's (even if I'm not that great at it, I still love it). So he came home to get me, and off we went.
It was just absolutely gorgeous up there. The campground and some of the other things to do are at the base of the mountain, and there is a dirt/gravel road that winds it's way up the mountain. There are also lots of roadside camp site's along the way up this dirt road, and there is where we found such beauty today. I will share some of my other picture's in a minute but this really short video (the first time I have tried to make one with my new camera I might add, yay me, it's not to horrible really) is one of the first things I was so very excited to share and to save in here. I just loved the sound of the creek, the view of the sunlight hitting the water and all of the frozen spots as well. A great deal of this creek all the up and down the mountain was frozen. Some times just around the edges of the creek banks, other times it was frozen all over, nothing could be seen but lots of thick, snowy white with the sound of softly running water flowing just beneath.
Here is the little video of one of the lovely creek area's that we stopped at.
I think, the more that I have a camera, the more I love to take picture's of nature, the out of doors, birds, bugs, tree's, the way sunlight bounces off of things and through things and creates shadows, and so on and so on. I love to take picture's of the road that is just up ahead of me, and sometimes the road's view from behind as well. I just love to take picture's of everything that my Father, in heaven above has created with His own loving hands.
So, here are just a few picture's of what God showed and shared with us today.
What fun we had, and what a wonderful day Bob and I spent together.
I just could not resist this shot. I looked up at the sky, just as we were starting up the dirt road that leads up the mountain in Mills River, and this is what I saw. Beautiful, just beautiful.
The road up ahead as we start up this small mountain side road. Peaceful.
The frozen wall, that's really what it looked like to me. A wall of ice.
I just adore how, as the ice had melted and fallen to the ground, it had re-frozen all over again into all these tiny little rounded balls of white ice beneath all the rest. So soft, soft white.
This reminded me of *Frozen Bubbles*, can you see them (almost?).
I'm gonna call this *Frozen Fangs* ,LOL.
Pretty shadows.
Frozen water on moss covered rocks. Lovely.
Frozen edges.
I truly loved the natural black and white effect in this one. Sunlight shining brilliantly, and an almost perfect and natural black and white photo of the ice, frozen water and snow, with the water flowing freely beneath and all around. So pretty.
A little closer in.
I just loved the large rounded & smooth frozen oval shape near the middle.
Lightly frozen water around a tree root that has grown into the creek. I just loved the texture of the frozen water in this one.
Can you see the frozen area's in the middle where the water is swirling and flowing all around it? The moving water and the frozen area almost look as if it's in a circular motion to me.
My goofy hubby giving me a goofy face.
Wanna know something funny? Most of these picture's that I was so blessed to take today.....were done so, without having even gotten out of Bob's truck. It was so horribly cold (24 degree's without factoring in the wind chill) that we decided that I would try to take as many of the picture's as I could from the warmth and safety of the truck. God placed all these lovely things for me to photograph in just the right places. The cold does so affect me and my R.A. in a bad way, yet I really wanted to go and take some picture's today. I thank my sweet Lord for placing so much beauty so closely to the road, where I could so easily photograph it.
I hope you enjoyed the picture's every bit as much as I enjoyed getting to go and find them and take them.
Love & Prayers,
Ronda
