*Anything that has or was hand made, home made, or hand crafted with love.
*Antique's, old things that were loved & used.

(especially if it's old and worn from love and use)
*Long hot showers, and a massage from my sweet hubby, when my Rheumatoid Arthritis hurts more than I can stand.

A Pittance of Time

This post is to Honor all those whom have served this country. Whether they be man or woman, no matter what their duty or job, no matter who long or short was or is their service time, I honor all of them. Past...Present....Future, Active Duty, or no longer in the service.
For anyone who has or is serving this country....I Thank you!
For those who have given their lives....I Thank You!

My father in law...Robert.
My grandfather in law....Donald.

(Although they are not vets yet.....they are serving this country...and still deserve our honor!)
And now my Son...Robert.
And my nephew Zachery.
Along with a few of other young men from my church....
Marcus, Paul, Charlie!

Yet for those whom have given the ultimate sacrifice.....This is especially for you!

I have not been online much during the past week or so. Yet I have so enjoyed all the time that I am getting to spend with my son. Even the simplest of things such as spending most of the day yesterday doing yard work with him was a blessing and a pleasure. I have missed this son of mine more than he will ever know, and every second that he is near me is a deep treasure to this mothers heart.

So if I am not blogging near as much until next week....please forgive me....be patient.... and I will be back to my old blogging and babbling self soon.

Oh....does anyone know where the blog.....Christian Homekeeping (homekeeper)? has gone to? I cannot find it....and I have someone that contacted me and they are looking for it as well.? Does anyone know where it has gone????

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR ?

STUFFED PORK CHOPS WITH ALFREDO SAUCE.

FIRST THINGS FIRST.
LET'S MAKE OUR OWN ALFREDO SAUCE...OK. COME ON...IT'S EASY. ALFREDO SAUCE (FROM COPY CAT RECIPE'S)
NOTES:
LET THE SAUCE SIMMER AS LONG AS YOU CAN, AND THIS RECIPE IS SO GOOD THAT I ALWAYS MAKE A DOUBLE BATCH, AND PUT HALF OF IT IN THE FREEZER TO USE FOR LATER). IT TASTES GREAT AND IF YOU USE HALF AND HALF IT’S TWICE AGAIN CHEAPER THAN THE *PRE-MADE* KIND FROM THE STORE.

INGREDIENTS:
1 PINT OF HEAVY CREAM (I USE HALF &HALF, WORKS THE SAME BUT MUCH CHEAPER)
1 STICK OF BUTTER (I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TUB MARGARINE ON THIS ONE)
4 TBSP. CREAM CHEESE
1/2 - 3/4 C. PARMESAN CHEESE (OR EVEN A SMIDGEN MORE IF YOU WISH)
1 TSP. GARLIC POWDER
1/2 TSP ONION POWDER

PREPARATION:
IN A SAUCEPAN COMBINE BUTTER, HEAVY CREAM (HALF & HALF), AND CREAM CHEESE. SIMMER THIS UNTIL ALL IS MELTED, AND MIXED WELL. ADD THE PARMESAN CHEESE, GARLIC POWDER, AND ONION POWDER. SIMMER THIS FOR 15 - 20 MINUTES ON LOW. YOU MAY WISH TO SEASON WITH A LITTLE SALT AND PEPPER. I MAKE THIS WITH HALF AND HALF, BUT I WOULDN'T TRY IT WITH PLAIN MILK.

STUFFING MIX.
TAKE ONE PACKAGE OF STORE BOUGHT STUFFING MIX (STOVE TOP TYPE). POUR MIX INTO A BOWL AND JUST ADD HOT WATER FROM YOUR FAUCET, MIX AND SET ASIDE FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

PORK CHOPS:
NOW TAKE SOME THIN, BONELESS PORK CHOPS AND POUND THEM OUT VERY THIN.(ABOUT 6 OR 7 CHOPS). TAKE YOUR STUFFING MIX AND PUT ONE HUGE HEAPING TABLESPOON ON TO THE PORK CHOP, AND SPREAD IT ALL OVER THE CHOP.THEN, VERY GENTLY START ROLLING UP YOUR PORK CHOP. KEEPING ALL OF THE STUFFING INSIDE, AND LETTING THE EDGES OF THE PORK CHOP GENTLY TOUCH EACH OTHER AROUND THE EDGES. WHEN IT IS ALL ROLLED UP, USE TOOTHPICK’S TO SECURE THE CHOP, SO THAT IT DOESN'T COME *UN* DONE WHILE COOKING.
WHEN ALL OF YOUR CHOPS ARE ROLLED UP, PLACE THEM SEEM SIDE DOWN INTO AN APPROPRIATELY SIZED CASSEROLE DISH (PRE-SPRAYED OF COURSE WITH PAM, OR OILED WITH YOUR FAV COOKING OIL). THEN TAKE YOUR "HOMEMADE" ALFREDO SAUCE, AND START TO POUR IT ALL OVER THE TOP OF EACH STUFFED AND ROLLED PORK CHOP, MAKING SURE EACH ONE IS COMPLETELY COVERED WITH SAUCE.THEN SPRINKLE A WEE BIT MORE OF PARMESAN CHEESE ON THE TOP, AND COVER THE DISH, AND PLACE INTO AN PRE-HEATED OVEN @ 350 DEGREES FOR ABOUT 20 TO 25 MINUTES. WHEN TIME IS UP, TAKE THEM OUT OF THE OVEN AND LET THEM SIT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE SERVING.
OH MY GOSH...THIS STUFF IS DELICIOUS BEYOND DESCRIPTION!!!! I WISH I HAD A PICTURE OF WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE, BUT TRUST ME THESE THINGS ARE FABULOUS.

SWEET YAM PATTIES.

INGREDIENTS:
YAM PATTIES (ABOUT 8)
REAL BUTTER
1/2 CUP OF SPLENDA (OR LESS)
CINNAMON (LIGHTLY TO TASTE)

LOOK IN YOUR FREEZER DEPARTMENT AND/OR IN THE MEAT DEPARTMENT FOR THESE TYPES OF YAM PATTIES. OH MY GOSH...I LOVE THESE KIND!!!
START PUTTING THE YAM PATTIES INTO A SMALL MICROWAVE SAFE DISH (I ONLY MAKE THE 8 YAM PATTIES BECAUSE THAT IS ENOUGH FOR BOB AND I FOR DINNER THAT NIGHT, AND TO PACK LUNCHES THE NEXT DAY). THEN TAKE THE BUTTER AND THINLY SLICE IT AND DROP IT ALL OVER THE PATTIES (APPROXIMATELY 2 TABLESPOONS WORTH), THEN TAKE ABOUT 1/2 OF A CUP (OR LESS) OF SPLENDA AND SPRINKLE OVER TOP OF YAM PATTIES AND BUTTER, THEN SPRINKLE LIGHTLY THE CINNAMON OVER TOP OF THAT. COVER THE DISH WITH SARAN WRAP, POKE TWO SMALL HOLES IN TOP, AND PUT INTO MICROWAVE AND COOK ON HIGH FOR 6 TO 8 MINUTES. TAKE OUT, REMOVE SARAN WRAP, AND SERVE. YUMMY SWEET WITH OUT THE SUGAR.

DOUBLE THE RECIPE DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR PORTION SIZES. WE ONLY EAT TWO YAM PATTIES AT A TIME, WHICH IS PLENTY FOR TWO PEOPLE.

ORANGE CAPPUCCINO MIX:

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 CUP INSTANT POWDERED MILK
1/2 CUP SUGAR
1/4 CUP INSTANT COFFEE1 TSP DRIED ORANGE PEEL(IT DOES MAKE IT MUCH EASIER TO ACCURATELY MEASURE ORANGE PEELS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN DRIED AND CRUSHED IN THE BLENDER. THEN STORE REMAINING PEELS IN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER FOR LATER USE).
1/2 TSP CINNAMON

DIRECTIONS:
PUT ORANGE PEEL, INSTANT COFFEE, AND CINNAMON INTO A BLENDER, AND BLEND WELL TILL POWDERED AND MIXED. IN A LARGE BOWL, COMBINE ITEMS FROM BLENDER AND ALL THE REMAINING INGREDIENTS, AND MIX WELL. STORE IN AN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER.

TO USE:
ADD 2 OR 3 HEAPING TSP PER MUG AND ADD HOT WATER. STIR WELL, SIP SLOWLY, AND ENJOY. I LOVE THIS ONE AROUND THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS. YUMMY.

HOMEMADE INSTANT VANILLA/CHOCOLATE CAPPUCCINO:

WE ALWAYS TRIPLE THIS RECIPE, FOR A REALLY LARGE BATCH :)

INGREDIENTS:
1/3 CUP INSTANT COFFEE
1 CUP POWDERED DRY
1/2 CUP POWDERED COFFEE CREAMER(IF YOU CAN FIND ONE THAT MATCHES THE FLAVOR YOU WANT, TRY IT, IT'S DELICIOUS, BUT I ONLY DO THIS WHEN THEY ARE ON SALE)
1/3 CUP SUGAR OR SPLENDA
1/4 CUP SUGAR FREE INSTANT VANILLA/CHOCOLATE PUDDING MIX.(FEEL FREE TO CHANGE THE FLAVOR OF THE PUDDING, IF YOU WISH. BUT MOST OF THE TIME I JUST STICK TO VANILLA OR CHOCOLATE).

DIRECTIONS:
COMBINE ALL INGREDIENTS IN A LARGE BOWL, MIX WELL, THEN PUT INTO AIR TIGHT CONTAINER.

TO USE:
ADD 3 OR 4 HEAPING TBLSPNS OF MIX TO MUG, THEN POUR AND STIR IN HOT WATER. STIR WELL, SIP SLOWLY, AND ENJOY.

OTHER IDEAS FOR CAPPUCCINO:

CHOCOLATE MINT:
WHEN MAKING THE CHOCOLATE CAPPUCCINO, USE ABOVE DIRECTIONS.....BUT....FOR ONE BATCH ADD 6 WELL CRUSHED PEPPERMINT CANDIES INTO THE MIX. YUMMY AROUND CHRISTMAS TIME.

PUMPKIN DIP

INGREDIENTS:
1 SMALL CAN SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK
2 (8 OZ. EACH) PKG. CREAM CHEESE, SOFTENED
1 (30 OZ.) CAN PUMPKIN PIE FILLING MIX
2 TSP. GROUND CINNAMON
1 TSP. GROUND GINGER
½ TSP GROUND CLOVES

DIRECTIONS:
IN A LARGE MIXING BOWL, CONDENSED MILK AND CREAM CHEESE, BEATING UNTIL WELL BLENDED. BEAT IN REMAINING INGREDIENTS. STORE IN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER IN REFRIGERATOR. SERVE WITH GINGERSNAPS, PRETZELS, ETC. USING A SMALL HOLLOWED OUT PUMPKIN IS A GREAT WAY TO PRESENT THE DIP

LIMONADA, LEMONADE OR LIMEADE

INGREDIENTS:
2 LIMES OR LEMONS, QUARTERED AND ANY SEEDS REMOVED
8 CUPS OF COLD WATER APPROXIMATELY
½ CUP OF SUGAR, MORE OR LESS BASED ON YOUR PREFERENCEICE CUBES AS DESIRED.

PREPARATION:

PLACE THE QUARTERED LIMES OR LEMONS IN THE BLENDER WITH
4 CUPS OF WATER AND SUGAR. BLEND UNTIL THE LIMES OR LEMON IS COMPLETELY PULVERIZED, THE MIXTURE SHOULD BE SLIGHTLY FOAMY WITH A WHITISH COLOR.STRAIN THE LEMONADE AND ADD THE REMAINING 4 CUPS OF WATER. SERVE WITH OR WITHOUT ICE BASED ON INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCE.

BAKED GARLIC PARMESAN CHICKEN LEGS 3 LBS.

CHICKEN LEGS
(THIGHS OR OTHER PIECES WILL WORK TOO)
¼ CUP OLIVE OIL
2 TO 3 TSP MINCED GARLIC FROM A JAR
1 CUP DRY BREAD CRUMBS (CAN USE HOMEMADE BREAD CRUMBS)
1 1/3 CUP PARMESAN CHEESE
1 TSP SALT
½ TSP PEPPERIN A BOWL, BIG ENOUGH FOR DIPPING CHICKEN PIECES IN, COMBINE OLIVE OIL AND GARLIC. IN A SEPARATE BOWL COMBINE BREAD CRUMBS, PARMESAN CHEESE, SALT AND PEPPER. DIP EACH CHICKEN LEG IN OIL MIXTURE AND THEN COAT WITH BREAD CRUMB/CHEESE MIXTURE. LAY IN AN 11X15 BAKING PAN OR JELLY ROLL PAN THAT HAS BEEN LIGHTLY SPRAYED WITH NON-STICK SPRAY. BAKE 30 TO 45 MINUTES AT 375 UNTIL THE CHICKEN HAS COOKED VERY WELL. TO CHECK THE CHICKEN TAKE A FORK AND STAB AT VARIOUS PIECES AND MAKE SURE THAT ANY OF THE JUICES THAT RUN OUT ARE NOT PINK BUT INSTEAD RUN CLEAR.

BBQ & CHEDDAR MEATLOAF

INGREDIENTS:
2 LBS GROUND BEEF
1 ½ TO 2 CUPS OATMEAL2
EGGS BEATEN
2 CUPS BBQ SAUCE (RESERVE 1 CUP FOR TOPPING OF MEATLOAF)
2 CUPS CHEDDAR CHEESE
1/3-CUP WATER
½ OF 1 SMALL ONION CHOPPED.
(GREEN PEPPERS ARE OPTIONAL)
SALT & PEPPER TO TASTE.

DIRECTIONS:
COMBINE ALL INGREDIENTS AND MIX WELL. I USUALLY COOK MY BBQ & CHEDDAR MEATLOAF IN A BUNT PAN.COOK MEATLOAF ON 350 DEGREES FOR ABOUT AN HOUR (OR UNTIL DONE). PUT REMAINING CUP OF BBQ SAUCE ON TOP OF MEATLOAF 15 MIN’S BEFORE IT IS FINISHED. I OCCASIONALLY PULL THE MEATLOAF OUT OF THE OVEN AND REGULARLY DRAIN OFF ANY GREASE AND OIL THAT MAY BE AVAILABLE. THIS WILL HELP MAKE THE MEATLOAF HOLD TOGETHER BETTER. WHEN MEATLOAF IS DONE TAKE OUT OF OVEN, POUR OFF ANY GREASE/OIL, THEN LET IT COOL FOR ABOUT 5 MIN’S BEFORE INVERTING THE PAN AND RELEASING THE MEATLOAF TO PUT IT ON A PLATE. SLICE, EAT AND ENJOY.!

TATER TOT CASSEROLE

INGREDIENTS:
2 LB GROUND BEEF OR TURKEY COOKED, SEASONED, DRAINED
3 -2LB BAGS TATER TOTS
2 CANS CREAM OF MUSHROOM
2 CANS EVAPORATED MILK
2 CANS CREAM OF CHICKEN

DIRECTIONS:
BROWN MEAT & PLACE IN LARGE CASS. DISH. COVER WITH TATER TOTS. MIX SOUP & MILK TOGETHER.POUR OVER TOP. BAKE AT 350 FOR 1 HOUR.MAKES 2- 9”X13” PANS.

FANCY PANTS

INGREDIENTS:
2 LBS GROUND BEEF
1 CAN TOMATO SAUCE
VELVEETA CHEESE
SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE

DIRECTIONS:
TAKE GROUND BEEF AND MAKE INTO REGULAR HAMBURGER STYLE PATTIES. COOK THEM IN A FRYING PAN TILL ALMOST DONE. POUR THE ENTIRE CAN OF TOMATO SAUCE OVER HAMBURGERS, SPRINKLE WITH SALT AND PEPPER. THEN COVER PAN WITH LID AND SIMMER FOR ABOUT 10 MIN’S. REMOVE LID AND PLACE SLICES OF VELVEETA CHEESE ON TOP OF SAUCE COVERED PATTIES. COVER AGAIN AND LIT SIT ON STOVE EYE (WITH NO HEAT ON) FOR 5 MIN’S. THEN REMOVE LID AND SPOON MORE TOMATO SAUCE OVER CHEESE COVERED PATTIES, THIS WILL ENSURE THAT THE SAUCE AND CHEESE WILL BEGIN TO MIX SLIGHTLY.SERVE BY THEMSELVES OR OVER RICE WHICH IS YUMMY.THIS HAS BEEN A FAMILY FAVORITE SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL.

CHEESY CHICKEN AND RICE
(FOR THE CROCK POT)

INGREDIENTS:
1 ONION, CHOPPED
1 CUP CHOPPED MUSHROOMS
(FOR ME THIS ONE IS OPTIONAL)
6 BONELESS, SKINLESS CHICKEN THIGHS, CUT INTO BITE SIZE PIECES
3 TBLSP OLIVE OIL1
CAN CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP
1 CAN EVAPORATED MILK
2 TO 3 CUPS GRATED CHEESE
3 CUPS COOKED WHITE RICE
1 CAN GREEN BEANS, DRAINED
SALT AND PEPPER, TO TASTE

IN A MEDIUM SIZED FRYING COOK ONIONS, MUSHROOMS AND CHICKEN IN THE OLIVE OIL UNTIL CHICKEN IS NO LONGER PINK AND VEGGIES ARE SOFT. PUT IN CROCK POT . ADD REMAINING INGREDIENTS. COOK ON LOW FOR 4 TO 5 HOURS

CHOCOLATE GRAVY #1

INGREDIENTS
1 CUP WHITE SUGAR
1 TABLESPOON SELF-RISING FLOUR
1 TABLESPOON UNSWEETENED COCOA POWDER
1 1/4 CUPS WATER
1 TSPN VANILLA
1 TABLESPOON BUTTER

ADD STRIPS OF BACON TO THE TOP BEFORE BAKING , THIS ADD'S THAT HOME MADE TOUCH.THESE ARE REALLY YUMMY.

PORK AND BEAN SOUP –
THIS RECIPE IS MADE FROM A LARGE PORK ROAST THAT MAY HAVE BEEN MADE A FEW DAYS BEFORE, AND YOU NEED AWAY TO USE THE REST OF THE PORK ROAST, SO AS NOT TO WAIST IT.

INGREDIENTS:
LEFT OVER PORK ROAST ON BONE
1 SMALL BAG DRIED NORTHERN BEANS
1 SMALL OR MEDIUM ONION
SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
POWDERED HAM FLAVORING/STOCK
3 OR 4 SMALL TO MEDIUM POTATOES

I BOILED THE REST OF THE PORK ROAST (WITH JUST BARELY ENOUGH WATER TO COVER THE BONES) FOR ABOUT 30 MIN’S, WITH THE REST OF THE MEAT STILL ON IT. THEN PLACED IN FRIG OVER NIGHT, TO BRING ALL THE FAT TO THE TOP TO CONGEAL.NEXT DAY, REMOVE ALL FAT FROM TOP AND THROW AWAY, YUK! YET, IF YOU PLAN AHEAD, YOU WILL DO AS I HAVE. PLACE A SMALL BAG OF DRIED NORTHERN BEANS IN A LARGE BOWL TO SOAK OVER NIGHT.
NEXT DAY, AFTER REMOVING FAT FROM THE TOP OF THE ROAST STOCK POT, - ADD 2 MORE CUPS OF WATER, RINSE THE NORTHERN BEANS AND ADD TO POT, ADD 1 SMALL/MEDIUM ONION LARGELY CHOPPED, SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE, AND 1 TSP OF POWDERED HAM STOCK. BRING TO A BOIL FOR 10 MIN'S, THEN LOWER HEAT AND LET SIMMER FOR 3 HOURS. DURING THE LAST 30 MIN'S, ADD 3 OR 4 SMALL/MEDIUM PEELED AND CHOPPED TATERS. TAKE OFF THE STOVE EYE AND LET IT REST AND SLIGHTLY COOL BEFORE SERVING. THIS IS GREAT WITH CORN BREAD.

WHEN COOKING IS DONE, AND APPLE BUTTER IS THICKENED, TURN OFF CROCK -POT AND LET COOL FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO. THEN PUT INTO JARS OR BOWLS TO KEEP IN FRIG (THIS MUST BE KEPT REFIRGORATED UNLESS YOU PLAN TO CANN THEM)OR PUT INTO FREEZABLE CONTAINERS AND USE WHEN NEEDED.

BUT I USED TO USE THE SAME PLASTIC DISH TUB I WASHED THE DISHES IN. I WOULD WASH IT WITH A LITTLE BIT OF BLEACH, RINSE IT REALLY WELL, AND THEN DRY IT COMPLETELY. IN SOME WAYS IT WORKED BETTER BECAUSE IT FIT ON MY LAP MORE CONVENIENTLY DUE TO THE RECTANGULAR SHAPE. BUT THE SHINY STAINLESS STEEL ONE DOES LOOK MORE LIKE I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING. SO MUCH FOR APPEARANCES. SO ANYWAY MIX THE WATER, DRY MILK POWDER AND SUGAR IN THE BOWL. ADD THE YEAST, SORT OF SPRINKLED ON TOP. ALLOW THE MIXTURE TO SIT UNTIL THE YEAST DISSOLVES SOME, THIS WILL ONLY TAKE A COUPLE OF MINUTES. ADD THE SALT, MARGARINE OR OIL, AND FLOUR. MIX WITH A WOODEN SPOON UNTIL IT GETS TOO STIFF AND THEN DIG IN WITH YOUR HANDS. WHEN THE DOUGH IS IN A NICE COHESIVE BALL, TURN IT OUT ONTO A FLOURED KITCHEN TABLE OR COUNTER. NOW START KNEADING THE DOUGH WITH ALL OF THE LOVE YOU HAVE FOR YOUR FAMILY. PRESS THE DOUGH AND SEND BIG LOVE VIBES INTO IT. STRETCH THE DOUGH AND IMPRESS ALL OF YOUR COMPASSION AND GENEROSITY INTO IT. REMEMBER WHY YOU LOVE YOUR KIDS, AND YOUR SPOUSE AND YOUR MOM OR YOU DAD, AND JUST PUT IT ALL INTO THE DOUGH. IT MAY TAKE UP TO TWO HOURS ON COOL DAYS, OR IN THE AIR CONDITIONING, SO BE PATIENT.PUNCH DOWN THE DOUGH BY LITERALLY PRESSING YOUR FIST INTO THE CENTER OF IT. DIVIDE THE DOUGH INTO 4 EQUAL LUMPS. COAX THEM INTO LOAF SHAPES AND PLACE THEM INTO LARGE (9 BY 5-INCH) WELL OILED LOAF PANS. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH LOAF PANS, USE CASSEROLE PANS OR CAKE PANS, OR WHATEVER. OLIVE GARDEN STYLE ALFREDO SAUCE

INGREDIENTS:
1 PINT OF HEAVY CREAM (I USE HALF & HALF )

PREPARATION:
IN A SAUCEPAN COMBINE BUTTER, HEAVY CREAM(OR HALF & HALF), AND CREAM CHEESE. SIMMER THIS UNTIL ALL IS MELTED, AND MIXED WELL. ADD THE PARMESAN CHEESE AND GARLIC POWDER. SIMMER THIS FOR 15 - 20 MINUTES ON LOW. YOU MAY WISH TO SEASON WITH A LITTLE SALT AND PEPPER. I HAVE DONE THIS WITH HALF AND HALF, BUT WE PREFER THE HEAVY CREAM. BUT I WOULDN'T TRY IT WITH PLAIN MILK.

1/3-CUP WATER
4 TSP CORNSTARCH

GET OUT A 2-QUART SAUCEPAN AND START TO HEAT UP THE OIL OR BACON GREASE IN IT. ADD ALL OF THE OTHER INGREDIENTS. IF YOU HAVE LIQUID SMOKE AROUND, IT MAKES THE SAUCE TASTE VERY GOOD, BUT IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY, DON'T WORRY, IT IS STILL QUITE DELICIOUS. STIR EVERYTHING UP AND LET THE MIXTURE SIMMER OVER MEDIUM LOW HEAT FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THE MIXTURE WILL THICKEN UP SOME, BUT IT WON'T BE AS THICK AS COMMERCIAL BARBECUE SAUCE, UNLESS, YOU DO ADD THE WATER AND CORNSTARCH NEAR THE END OF THE SIMMERING TIME. THIS MAKES ABOUT 3 CUPS, OR IT WILL COMPLETELY FILL A USED/EMPTY BBQ SAUCE BOTTLE. ALWAYS, OF COURSE, KEEP THIS IN THE REFRIGERATOR. I USUALLY DOUBLE THE RECIPE AND KEEP IT IN A CLEAN, RE-USED PICKLE JAR.

HEALTH and BEAUTY REICPE'S

Homemade Hand & Body Lotion:

Ingredients:
2 - 16 oz bottles any type lotion you prefer(on sale of course, I usually use one that is Vanilla scented or baby powder scented, my fav's)
1 - large container of petroleum jelly (Store brands & on sale of course. I love the baby powder scented one)
1 - small bottle of any store brand vitamin E oil, you can also add a small amount of Sesame or Almond oil if it is on hand.

Directions:
Put all ingredients into a large bowl and use a hand held mixer and then just go to it. Mix everything really well until completely blended. This will make a really large batch, so have plenty of plastic storage containers on hand (I use the knock-off brands of the Glad type containers, you know the really cheap one's). Everyone in my family uses this now on a regular basis. During the winter it really is a true blessing and it does get rid of dry skin. Always apply lotion of any kind immediately after a shower as well, that is the absolute best time to do so. It really does seal in the moisture. Combined with my homemade lotion, my dry skin is a thing of the past. I keep it in small containers at the kitchen sink, and in containers all around my home.

Sugar Scrub, for hands and arms:

Mix white or brown sugar with sesame oil.
I do not have exact measurements. I just mix in the oil and continually stir until the sugar is well coated and obviously well oil coated. Before using, put one small drop of a gentle liquid hand soap in the palm of your hand, then put a generous amount of the sugar scrub in the same palm and then rub, rub, rub. I even rub all the way up to my elbows. When you are satisfied with your rubbing efforts, rinse well under warm water, and pat dry. Follow with a good moisturizing lotion. Between the oil for moisturizing the skin, and the sugar, for sloughing off the old, dead skin, your hands and arms will feel amazing. I keep a small container of this on my kitchen sink, close at hand, and I use this several times a week. Results... soft, smooth, moist hands & arms.

Banana & Avocado Moisturizing Face Mask:

Ingredients:
1/2 of a ripe banana
1/2 of a ripe avocado
1 tsp pure honey
1 tsp pure sesame oil

Directions:
Mash banana and avocado's together well. Making sure you mash out all lumps possible. Then mix in the honey and sesame oil, stir till well combined. Using your fingers or a face brush of some sort (all clean of course) start to apply and massage on to your face fairly generously. Make sure you do not apply this to your eye lids, mostly because you can't open or close them with out a sticky mess getting in your eye's of course, LOL. Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes or until completely dry. OK, now this will look horribly funny, but the results are amazing. When time is up, rinse your skin really well, and then wash your face with only a warm, wet washcloth. Then apply your normal moisturizer as usual.

All Purpose – Antibacterial, Glass, Kitchen & Bathroom Spray Cleaner

Makes 1 gallon ( This one is my all time favorite. I use this all the time, it smells great, kills germs, shines everything, won’t leave streaks. )For Kitchen, Bathroom, Window’s & Mirrors.

Ingredients:
2- pint (or 2 full bottles of average size) wintergreen rubbing alcohol (the green kind)
4- tblspns dish liquid
4- tblspns ammonia
4- tblspns vinegar

Pour all ingredients into a clean large gallon size jug ( an empty gallon size vinegar jug is great). Add cold water till jug is most of the way full. Cap & swish to mix, and then clean to your hearts desire.

Shower Cleaner:
(for regular soap scum and dirt)

Heat vinegar in a glass measuring bowl, in the microwave till bubbly. Pour into a spray bottle. Spray on to shower walls and let sit for 10 min, Scrub and wipe down, then rinse with hot water. Shower will sparkle like new.

Heavy Duty Shower Cleaner
(for stuff stains, soap scum, and mineral deposits)

Ingredients:
Arm-n-Hammer baking soda
Vinegar
Spray bottle to put vinegar into

Generously sprinkle baking soda all over your shower. Then take spray bottle full of vinegar, and start to spray all of the baking soda. Spray generously, till baking soda re-acts with the vinegar and starts to bubble up. Let the bubbling action happen for a while (let this do the hard work for you). Then afer 5 to 10 minutes, using a scrub brush or heavey scrubbing wrag, rub, swirl, and scrub. Then finish with a very hot water rinse. This will remove just about anything on your shower walls, floors, corners, etc. It will remove mold, mildew, hard water deposits (to a point, depending on how badly they have stains the surface).

Daily Shower Cleaner Spray

Ingredients:
1 Spray Bottle
Bleach (Original not the concentrated kind)or try vinegar it works great to & non toxic,that’s what I use).
Dawn dish soap (Original formula only!)
Water

Directions:
Fill Spray bottle 1/4 way with bleach ( or white vinegar ). Put 2 small squirts of Dawn dish soap in bottle. Fill rest of bottle with water. Give a few shakes to mix. Ready to use as a daily shower cleaner! Note: Original Dawn is recommended, because other dish soaps can cause a reaction with the bleach giving off a strong, foul odor. Be careful if you choose not to use Original Dawn!

Homemade Powdered Cleanser (comet style)

Ingredients:
1 small canning jar with lid and ring
Baking soda
Lavender and Tea Tree Essential oils
(you can also add Lemon essential oil)

Put baking soda into the jar about 3/4ths full. Then add 20 drops of lavender oil, and 10 drops of tea tree oil. Put in lid and ring, then shake well to combine the oils. Remove lid and stir a bit more with a fork. Now poke holes into the lid, and place lid and ring back on jar. Now you have organic, non-toxic, and naturally anti-bacterial powdered cleanser to use in kitchen, bathroom, or any where else scrubbing in needed. Cover jar (under the lid) with a plastic bag to preserve freshness and oils, and store in a dark place.

Use this as the base for my "Heavy Duty Shower Cleaner". Then add the vinegar.

This make the best toilet bowl cleaner...ever!

Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Toilet Bowl Ring Stain Removal
Use a cheap Pumice Stone.
Put on your rubber gloves, and just start rubbing that hard water stain away. It shouldn't scratch your toilet bowl. I never has mine. Cheap, cheerful, fabulous and frugal.

Natural Furniture Polish

Ingredients:
2parts olive oil,
1 p. Lemon Juice
A few drops of Lavender essential oil
(optional but smells fabulous)

Mix together in a clean new spray bottle. Use another clean cloth to polish the surface dry. I use this mixture , wow it removed lots of buildup on my furniture and left it clean and the wood was moisturized to.

Homemade Automatic Dishwasher Detergent

Ingredients:

Mix the following items together in a small plastic tub with a snap on lid:
¼-cup cheap regular auto dish detergent (this is best if you have hard water or lots of mineral junk in your water).

½- cup Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
½-cup 20 Mule Team Borax.

Use about 2 tablespoons in the dishwasher compartment. If your silverware seems a bit dull, add Citric Acid (from either canning products or tang). Try adding 1 to 2 tsp. to the above mixture to start with.

Rinse aid for dishwasher-
fill rinse aid cup with vinegar only (works great)
If you make my "Orange Vinegar" recipe this is even better.

Orange Vinegar

Ingriedents:
1 gallon of cheap, white vinegar
Peels from Oranges (you can also add lemon, lime, tangerine, etc peels)

Take as much or as little of orange peels as you can (but at-least 1 cup minimum), tear them into smaller pieces so that they fit into the opening of the jug. When peels have been added, then take your gallon jug of viengar and put it "UNDER" your kitchen sink, or in a dark closet. Leave this for about 2 or 3 weeks, taking out one time a week and giving it a good shake and stir. When it's ready, pour into a spray bottle (making sure to leave orange peels in the gallon jug for later use), or into a squirt bottle of some sort. Then just use as normal for cleaning...counters, frig, sinks, toilets, showers...etc. Any where you would normally use vinegar to clean with. It really does a number on grease in the kitchen, and it really does smell citrusy. It's wonderful.

Homemade Laundry Detergent
(although I **ALWAYS** double this recipe when I make it, and I use a 5 gallon bucket). You will love how this cleans, and just how cheap it really is.

Ingredients:
1/2 bar of Zote laundry bar soap
1/2 cup arm-n-hammer "Washing" soda
1/2 cup borax laundry booster
2 1/2 gallon bucket with lid

Grate the soap and pit into a sauce pan. Add 6 cups, heat and stir till all the soap flakes melt. Then add the washing soda and borax, and stir until dissolved. Remove from the heat. Add 4 cups of hot water into the bucket. Next, add your soap mixture from the pot, and pour gently into your buckett with the water in it, and stir. Let the soap set for 24 hours. As it cools it WILL thicken and turn into a "Gel" consistency. Stir well from time to time. Only use 1/2 of a cup for each load of laundry no matter what.

This laundry detergent is a low or almost no sudsing soap. So if you peak into your washing machine and do not see lots of bubbles that is normal. Because the bubbles aren't what does the cleaning anyway. What does the cleaning is the INGREDIENTS in the soap mixture. So do not freak out...ok.

By the way....the coast for this equals out to .01¢ per load. Hows that for frugal??? Fabulous I'd say!

I also add 1/2 of a cup of lemon ammonia to every load of laundry that I do. This is a fabulous way to rid your clothes of grease, oils (especially body oils) etc. (I get my ammonia @ "The Dollar General" not @ the local grocery store. It's far cheaper at the $ General).

Homemade Fabric Softener

Ingredients: 6 cups water
3 cups vinegar
2 cups cheap hair conditioner
1 gallon jug

Pour all ingredients into the jug, and mix. Add ½ of a cup per load of laundry. Smells good and works great.

Even better/cheaper fabric softener:

Use 1/2 of a cup of pure white vinegar for your fabric softener. Your clothes will be fresh, soft, and smell like they were dried out on the line.

Wrinkle Releaser

Ingredients:
1 Spray bottle (windex size)
¼ cup fabric softener of your choice
2 tblspn white vinegar
5 drops essential oil (optional)
cold water

Directions:
Pour fabric softener and vinegar into the bottle & mix gently. Then add water slowly almost to the top, so as not to cause it to bubble up, & mix gently. To use spray a very fine mist onto your clothing, rub it into the fabric, pull and stretch so as to release all wrinkles. Put on to a hanger to let air dry, this will only take a few moments ( I promise , the vinegar smell will disappear fast). This is also great to use when you iron your clothes, the wrinkles come right out, plus it smells terrific too.

Laundry Pre-treat
(this is a professional dry cleaners pre-treat solution for all the NON dry cleaned, machine washed clothing)

In an empty (but clean ) spray bottle or squirt bottle add the following:
1/8th ( of the bottle ) Lemon Ammonia
1/8th (of the bottle) liquid laundry detergent
( regular, not the bleach added type)
Water – fill the rest of the bottle with cold water.

Swish gently to mix together then spray away. This will get rid of nearly any stains. The longer it sits on the clothing the better. This will get rid of blood stains. Use caution.
Do Not use on silk and other fine & delicate fabrics unless you do a test spot first.
& ***Do not use*** on "Dry Cleanable Only" clothing.

Homemade Fabreeze

Ingredients:
1 Spray bottle (windex size)
¼ cup or even less, fabric softener of your choice
¼ cup rubbing alcohol ( to help kill allergens and bacteria )
cold water to fill to the top.

Pour fabric softener and rest of ingred’s into bottle and then add water till mostly full. Spray lightly on furniture for fresh sent.
