Today my hubby is sick.....

It has been a fairly good week, until last night. Hubby came home sick from work yesterday, and he is even worse today. Fever, chills, stuffy & runny nose, achy, etc..., you get the idea. I absolutely hate it when he or the kids gets sick. I hate to see the one's I love not feeling well, or sad, or hurting for any reason. Then I go into nurse mode, pampering them, cooking for them, cleaning up after them, (which can sometimes be an icky thing at times, eeewww) but it's all part of being a good wife and mother.
We got our first snow of the season Wednesday morning. It was and still is terribly cold, but I always love to see God's handy work. It was so beautiful. Everything just looked so clean and sparkling and fresh. I sometimes wonder if God wants us to see everything He does as a wondrous & beautiful thing. I know just the fact that I do not have to go to Hell, for me, it IS a wondrous & beautiful thing. How blessed I am, and Thankful as well.
On snow days we (in general as a family) love to snuggle up under blankets, watch a little TV,or play some kind of game, drink coffee, homemade cappuccino, or spiced Russian tea, & eat homemade soups with fresh corn bread or biscuits. Last night I made creamy potato & hamburger soup. It is a simple but yummy soup.

Creamy Potato & Hamburger soup

1 lb ground beef cooked & drained (set aside when done
8 or 9 good sized potatoes peeled & chopped into small pieces (cook till just bairly fork tender)(use only enough water to just bairly cover the taters)
add salt & pepper to taste into the boiling potatoes
when taters are fork tender, add the beef.
at this time then add (to taste) approx - 1 tsp each - onion and garlic powder
add 1 stick real butter
stir all ingred's together.
in another bowl combine -
2 1/2 cups half & half & 4 tblspn flour mix well till completely combined,
then pour into the soup pot of taters, meat & seasonings. Stir while bringing it back up to a slight boil so it will thicken up.
lower the heat and serve.
we love to add a teaspoon of sour cream and a sprinkling of cheddar cheese on the top of the soup just before eating.

Just thought I would share this one. It's a simple soup, yet creamy, filling & yummy.

Love & Prayers,
Stay Warm, & Have a Peachy Keen Day.
